was born and raised in So. California.  He started performing at an early age, having been featured in a variety of theater groups spanning the Inland Empire of So. CA.  Most notably at the age of 14 he received an Inland Empire Theater League Award for his portrayal as the title role in "Tom Sawyer".

It wasn't long after his introduction to acting that he found his passion for film, performing a variety of technical and creative job titles in well over 20 of his own student films during his Junior High & High School years.  Highlights include the 2006 Award Winning "REPOSSESSED" (Winner: Best Under 18 Film -Shriekfest Hollywood) and his first feature "KING OF SWING".  His other notable early work includes "WELCOME TO PLEASANT ACRES" (Official Selection: Shriekfest 2004; Winner: Best Cinematography & Best Editing  -International High Desert Student Film Festival 2003), "THE MODERN MARVEL OF FLIGHT" (Winner: Best Director -International High Desert Student Film Festival 2003).  He has also won several awards from the A.A.E. Digital Film Department for his works during his years as a student there.

During his last year of High School, Murphy moved to Colorado.  There he became involved with the local film festival making several industry contacts and also becoming a four year regular performer, writer, director & choreographer at the Backstage Theater of Breckenridge, Colorado (Winner: Colorado Theater League’s 2010 Outstanding Regional Theater; a season where Murphy wrote, directed & starred in his first play: the original "HAPPY HOUR SKETCH COMEDY").

Since then, Murphy has moved back to California to pursue a career in film, having written 8 feature screenplays, some of which are currently under option awaiting production.

In late 2010 Murphy embarked on his passion project, founding the online comedy show, HOUR HOUR SKETCH COMEDY, currently wrapping up its second season.  Also notably, in the spring of 2011, Murphy landed a supporting role in upcoming independent film, "HYSPERIA", (a film he also worked on the screenplay for, as well as helping with the production in numerous ways).

Murphy's most recent short film "FRAGILE" was an Official Selection at the Big Bear International Film Festival.

Murphy continues to write, direct & produce many of his independent projects from his mountain home in Fawnskin, CA.  He can be seen regularly in many of the local theater productions there in Big Bear Lake, CA.
